So for a chance at better gear, you need to run LFR until you have no more upgrades available outside of normal/HM raids. To be the most competitive (which is required for many HM fights) you are forced to run LFR. For that reason, I think it should share a lockout.

2012-08-24 The weekly lockout on normal/heroic gear means it'll still take the same number of weeks whether you do LFR/Flex or not (leaving aside getting the issue of killing bosses faster). "Lockouts dont have a magical transitive property. Just because flex/lfr don't share a lockout and normal/flex don't share a lockout doesn't mean normal and lfr can't." 2012-10-12 If they really want to keep hardcore raiders from "being forced" to run LFR then they should make it share a lockout with Normal and Heroic modes.

With the new Warlords model, the new "Normal" (previously "Flex") and new "Heroic" (previously "Normal") will not share a lockout with Mythic.
This is what causes the display of two entries for each LFR lockout, one as part of the regular raid lockout (labeled "Throne of Thunder"), and the other from the special LFR handling code (labeled "LFR: Throne of Thunder"). You can clear the raid once per lockout, regardless of its difficulty (since you're able to change the difficulty while you're in the raid instance). An exception are raids with the raid finder difficulty enabled (Dragon Soul and later). You can talk to the raid's npc and clear the raid finder difficulty as well. If they really want to keep hardcore raiders from "being forced" to run LFR then they should make it share a lockout with Normal and Heroic modes.
